I-35 Closure - October 10-13

We have been informed that the Texas Department of Transportation will close both the northbound and southbound lanes of IH 35 between New Braunfels Street and AT&T Parkway in order to work on the Walters Street Bridge. This closure is scheduled for October 10, 2008 at 10:30pm and will be completed on October 13, 2008 at 5:00am.  Those who enter Fort Sam Houston through the Walters Street gate may wish to use the gate on Harry Wurzbach, where visitors' passes are also available.  A map to the gates at Fort Sam Houston is available HERE.

Welcome to the Home of AHFSH

The Alamo Heights - Fort Sam Houston (AHFSH) youth soccer league was begun in the late 1970's with a goal of providing children within the Alamo Heights and Fort Sam Houston communities the opportunity to play soccer.  Since its inception, AHFSH has always welcomed players who are interested in developing their skills, as well as an appreciation for and understanding of the game of soccer.

AHFSH welcomes players from Under-5 through Under-18 who are interested in developing age-appropriate individual and team skills, positive attitudes and good sportsmanship.  The league fields "recreational", Academy league and "competitive" teams, but our goal is to provide a league where children have fun, regardless of the level of play in which they may choose to participate.

AHFSH Goals

Our emphasis is to focus on developing individual soccer skills, positive attitudes towards soccer and athletics in general, and good sportsmanship.  Our goal is to provide a league where children have fun.  We seek to develop and encourage boys and girls who have competitive talents without sacrificing our primary purpose of teaching a love for the game of soccer in a way that is fun for players.

TOPSoccer is a training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer association volunteers. The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, ages 5 to 18, who has a mental or physical disability. Our first season of TOPSoccer was a HUGE success.  The program is set to begin again in the fall, 2008 season.  We want to thank our TopSoccer sponsor: Cavender Auto Family.

We need volunteers and "buddies" to make this program a success in San Antonio.  Click here to learn more about this program.
